After several postponements, River’s youth divisions were able to finish their seasons against Boca Juniors and Estudiantes de la Plata, respectively. In addition, the General Coordinator of Amateur Football, Gabriel Rodriguez, was sent off with an ovation from family, friends, and fans.
The ‘Category 96’ youth lost to Boca Juniors in Ezeiza, but having a comfortable 5-0 lead obtained a few weeks ago in Casa Amarilla, the young Millonarios had little to worry about. The team, lead by Coach Juan Jose Borelli, ended the season with three consecutive championships (won all three finals in the three years).
The ‘Category 98’ youth had a more complicated match against Estudiantes as the Millonario youth had tied 2-2 in City Bell. Fortunately, River’s youth bounced back in Ezeiza and they defeated the “Pincha” team 4-1. River’s youth divisions continue to produce great players and obtain several championships. Let’s hope they can contribute the same way to the first division team in years to come.
