Upon arriving to Buenos Aires from Madrid this morning, Angel Cappa quickly travelled to the Monumental Stadium to meet River president, Daniel Passarella. Before Coach Cappa could get to work, he had to finalize his contract with the club and sort out additional details. In quick responses to the press, he assured that “…River relied on its players to get out of this mess.” In addition, he stated “…River had great players to work with.”
As soon as his contractual agreements were completed, he quickly made his way to the club’s training grounds to lead his first official practice of his new job. After chatting and observing the players, he formed the 11 potential players to face Godoy Cruz on the weekend.
They were: Daniel Vega; Paulo Ferrari, Alexis Ferrero, Cristian Villagra; Facundo Affranchino, Matías Almeyda, Matías Abelairas; Mauro Díaz; Ariel Ortega and Gustavo Canales.
Additionally, Marcelo Gallardo played with the reserve squad while Rogelio Funes Mori and Daniel Villalba did not participate in the practice.
