As River prepares for the upcoming tournaments, one of the players who worked hard during the preseason was Crisitian ‘Ogre’ Fabbiani. Much was speculated about his future in the club as his lack of performance and weight issues were constantly associated with his name. Returning from Canada’s preseason training, he has lost over ten pounds and this has motivated him to pursue being the top goal-scorer of the club.
Crisitian has had a tremendous amount of support from the fans during the preseason. Since his arrival, he has been scrutinized over his weight and other health issues which has impeded his performance in the club. Asked over his current status, he stated “My weight doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is my performance and I see myself well because it has been two years since I had a preseason.”
Since the ‘Ogre’ accumulated a yellow card during the last official match of the 2009 Clausura tournament, he will not be available for the 2009 Apertura tournament against Banfield. His best chances are against the Copa Nissan Sudamericana opener against Lanus.
