There is tremendous passion between River and its fans. On the day of the world’s best derby, these fans are representing the “red and white” through out the whole world by wearing jerseys and flying flags. In Buenos Aires, the atmosphere is different. One can say that it is out of this world! It has always been said that there are two different games going on during the derby: on the field and in the stands.
Since seven in the morning, around 250 club members were working hard in preparing the stands for the match. Flags needed to be set-up, balloons filled, and various musical instruments ready for playing. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the passion for River can prevail any other. Around three in the afternoon, almost 50,000 supporters graced the stands. The famous “Ahi viene la hinchada (Here comes the fans)” song could be heard all around. An hour later, the team made its way on the field and the stadium.
No fan base in Argentina can compare to River’s, and for that little group of Boca fans that arrived in the Monumental Stadium to watch the game, were you there? Nobody heard you.
