It looks as though River’s preseason ambitions keep changing every week. Since last week’s update, River has added a few exhibitions matches and lost some as well. It turns out the Italian side Juventus decided to play exhibition matches in Japan instead of Canada so River was left with open dates. World Eleven, the company responsible for creating such matches, replaced Juventus with three interesting clubs.
River will be facing off against MLS side Toronto FC, NASL side Montreal Impact, and English Premiership side Everton. Based on this information, it looks as though River will be challenged thoroughly in the upcoming weeks. Phil Neville, one of the most experienced players in Everton and the English National Squad stated “I am really looking forward to the match and it will, of course, be a very tough test for us at that stage of our pre-season preparation. “Any games betweenEnglishand Argentinean teams will be good ones and although this is a friendly for both of us, I’m sure it will be keenly contested.” That being said, I look forward to this match!
Finally, River Plate will face off against Boca Juniors in neutral grounds. Having accepted the offer, River will play Boca in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on September 4th in the Ramón “Tahuichi” Aguilera Stadium, home to Blooming and Oriente Petrolero of the Andean nation. The match will attract nearly 40,000 spectators and the winner will leave with the “Copa Aerosur de Oro” trophy.
