River's Possible Transfers (3rd Update)

La Pagina Millonaria - River's Possible Transfers (3rd Update)

From the moment the final whistle blew at the end of the match with Boca last Saturday, there have been numerous rumors and stories detailing possible signings to the club. With this being the third update, none of the players that I mentioned before have signed with the club. Most of the deals fell through due to monetary issues, which has caused huge headaches for the team. River needs experienced players who will lead and push the team forward, but President Jose Maria Aguilar seems to have conflicting views with the other clubs he is negotiating with.

Nonetheless, there are only a few days left for the transfer to window to close. Nothing official has been made, causing great commotion with fans and specifically in La Pagina Millonaria. With every update that I have read, the majority of the comments are in favor of a Presidential resignation and a new board taking “the reigns” of the club. Another great multitude of comments want the return of Ariel Ortega and Newell’s player Cristian Fabbiani. Unfortunately, these two players do not seem attainable at the time being.

Marcelo Gallardo (D.C. United – USA) – The River legend has agreed to return to his former club after exiting River in 2007. Marcelo has been a great leader in the past for River, especially during tough and decisive games. His type of game play and personality has caused him to be either loved or hated by the fans but at this point, any help seems welcome. If the deal goes through, he would return to the club one a one-year loan. Marcelo has passed through French clubs Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.

Rubens Sambueza (Flamengo – Brazil) – Known as “The Tunnel” for his foot skills and trickery with rivals, Rubens is in negotiations with River to come back on a loan. His current club, Flamengo of Brazil, has not put him into use with only playing seven games and scoring no goals. With a mindset determined to keep active, Rubens Sambueza wants to return to the club that raised him since his youth.
