On Saturday night, River Plate defeated Banfield in the Monumental Stadium in front of 45,000+ fans in one of the best matches of the 2011 Torneo Clausura Tournament. Matias Almeyda was the star of the match as he paved the way for the victory. His exact timing in passing the ball to Mariano Pavone created River’s winning moment on the pitch. As a result, River obtained another important victory with three additional points to total 18 and first place in the standings.
Banfield arrived at the Monumental Stadium with the intention of ruining River’s winning momentum, but they soon found out that it was more difficult than expected to escape with a win.
