Leonardo Astrada is River’s new coach for the remainder of the year. Known as the “Negro”, Coach Leonardo Astrada will coach River Plate for the second time in his career. After talks with River’s upper management last night, he was given the green light by the committee and was chosen to be the new coach until the end of December.
This afternoon, he signed the final paperwork for his arrival and was given full responsibility of the team. His first day of duty will be tomorrow, starting with River’s daily practice. Along with Coach Astrada will be his assistant, Hernan Diaz, who was another ex-River with same accomplishments as our new coach. In addition, Coach Astrada will be in River’s next match against Independiente, on the 17th of October.
Leonardo Astrada has been regarded as one of River’s most successful idols on the pitch. He won many games and championships from 1988 to 2003, including the Primera Division, Copa Toyota Libertadores, and the SuperCopa Sudamericana. The last time Astrada was in command, River obtained the 2004 Clausura Championship under great stars such as Javier Mascherano, Lucho Gonzalez, Marcelo Gallardo, Ariel Ortega, and German Lux.
GOOD LUCK COACH ASTRADA!
