Juan Pablo Angel, the Colombian striker currently playing for the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer, spoke briefly about a possible return to River, at the opening of a soccer complex in his native city of Bogota.
Angel’s name appears every time the transfer market reopens, but he has never been able to return. In fact, he had said he would like to come back to River. When Juan Pablo wore the ‘red band across his chest’ upon arriving from Colombia, he won the hearts of the fans for his hard work, determination, and many, many goals.
Inaugurating his new sports “La Jaula de Angel” (The Cage of Angel), he stated, “Please don’t retire me. To return, either to Nacional (Medellin, Colombia) or River, is something I always think about. I will always be grateful to these clubs, just like Aston Villa.”
