It has been confirmed that Ariel Ortega has pulled a hamstring on his left leg according to River’s medical team. In Sunday’s match against Gimnasia & Esgrima, Ariel was replaced by Gustavo Bou in the first half and this caused alarm through out River. After studies with the medical team, Ariel was given the bad news that he would miss two weeks and Argentina’s national team exhibition match against Ghana on Wednesday night
With this news, every fan has been questioning his participation against the derby with Boca Juniors in mid-October. Only time will tell if Ariel will be ready to play this match, but his desire to play against Boca will surely motivate his recovery. Ariel’s desire to play against San Lorenzo next Sunday would also be in his plans, especially since he will want to face the man responsible for his exit from River in 2008, Diego Simeone.
