This morning, Ariel Ortega was back at River’s training facilities in the group’s Monday practice after being absent since Saturday. There was a lot of talk concerning Ariel Ortega and his recent downward spiral into addiction to alcohol. His future is in doubt, and he is expected to meet with Coach Leonardo Astrada and President Daniel Passarella in the coming hours.
On Saturday afternoon, Ortega had a setback with his addiction to alcohol, and his late arrival to practice forced Coach Astrada to set him aside. Angry at the decision, Ariel decided to abandon Saturday’s practice and head back home. His actions were similar of those in the past when associated with his addiction. Let us hope that he can successfully recover from this setback and return in full form against Colon on Sunday.
