The Monumental Stadium has gone through a major renovation period and the masses have approved of the work. Ever since Diego Maradona commented about the poor condition of the field during national team football matches, River has gone through a phase to better the conditions of the stadium. Actually, it has been a few years since River has encountered problems within the stadium. One of the major problems was hosting musical concerts on the same pitch that the team plays on. After the concerts, potholes of dirt and clumps of grass could be seen everywhere. The pitch would be patched for a game the next day, leaving the ground in worse condition.
Complaints from players and fans through out the years have finally landed on deaf years. Little by little, the fans stands are receiving fresh paint and new seats. The goal is to have all the seats replaces and the whole stadium painted by the end of the year. In addition, the grass has been replaced to meet high-quality standards and a possible retractable roof is in the works. River is the most popular and glorious club in Argentina and it is about time that the inside matches the outside.
