For many years, the Monumental Stadium has been the home of the Argentine national team. Many glorious moments have graced this stadium, from numerous victories in exhibition and World Cup qualifiers, to the magical night in 1978 when Argentina won its first World Cup. River Plate has always been a good friend to the national team especially since the Monumental Stadium is the home venue. As a result, River fans have always been synonymous with loyal support. Last night”s exhibition match against Canada brought many River fans out to support Diego Maradona’s men in their final ‘send-off’ before embarking to South Africa.
