There are those worth fighting for, and those whose release doesn’t matter. With River, there are many players that fall into both categories. For Cristian Fabbiani, he falls into both categories. In the latest poll hitting La Pagina Millonaria, over 60% of fans confirmed that they do not want him to play in River in 2010.

In less than one year, Fabbiani’s world fell apart. Known as the ‘Ogre’, he turned down Velez Sarsfield and Newell’s Old Boys to join the Millonarios. He promised so much, and had the statistics to prove it, but did so little in River. His best performances were in the beginning of the year against El Nacional (Paraguay), Banfield, and Rosario Central. After that, he slowly faded out of the scene and gave poor performances through out the year. With a poll in which 7,500 users participated, he definitely does not have support from the fans.

The final straw was when Fabbiani reacted with gestures towards the insults of fans. In this match against Independiente, his poor performance got him removed in the second half in front of a multitude of fans who reacted with tons of jeers and whistles. Ever since then, he has played very few minutes for the club and a cloudy future remains for the ‘Ogre’.
