Coach Leonardo Astrada gave his usual press conference after the game and explained the reasons for Marcelo Gallardo’s substitution after facing criticism for doing so. He also acknowledged that the team must work on finishing its plays, and not lose focus.
He stated, “I had to change the field because Arsenal was coming on hard. If I didn’t bring in a central midfielder, I would’ve not been able to achieve what I was seeking.”
He added, “…it was the best thing to go, and it makes sense that Marcelo was annoyed, but I make the final decisions.” Then he said, “We have to improve on our offense and be much more precise in defining our plays, because we fail to finish them.”
Finally, he said: “Obviously I would want to be much better than we are today. We recognize this and are working on improving. Surely if we keep doing this, the possibility of a victory against Gimnasia will show up.
