In an interview with “Diario Ole” from Argentina, Ariel Ortega opened up to his fans. He gave many statements that explained his current situation, both personal and professional. After his return match against Godoy Cruz, he was given applauded off the field by the visiting River fans in a gesture to support one of River’s remaining idols. Sitting down with Ole before returning from Mendoza, Ariel expressed himself for everyone to read.

“I’m a public person, one River’s most representative players and it’s normal for people to talk about me. But when they seek to turn things around…” stated Ariel Ortega. He understands that his actions do cause exposure, but he gets annoyed when he hears opinions from people who don’t know him. “People give their opinion and they have no idea what I go through. I can’t tell another what happens at their home. Everyone says that I need help, but there are people that shouldn’t have a say. Helping me, is to not interfere. Would you ask a stranger for help?”

Ariel also mentioned that in order for him to overcome his problems, he needed to be in the right environment. “When I feel bad, I cling to my kids, my wife, I call friend from my town… I also speak a lot with Almeyda (Matias). I have confidence with him, I tell him everything. I call him crying, and that is usually when I am alone.”

Referring to his abrupt leave from River’s training grounds a few weeks ago, he stated “There were things that happened to me, but luckily, it is in the past. Now I’m happier, the same as always. I’m not always suffering. People know me; they know I’m a quiet person, along with my issues. It hurts. I’m embarrassed. Committing errors when there is a support group… I’m not a tennis player or a boxer; there are 30 players here and this is an institution that deserves respect. But I’m a human being that does commit mistakes.”
